Location:                            NYC - this is a remote role but the candidate must be in the NYC area

Safety Protocols:             Remote org – they will provide equipment.  

Salary: $25/hour during the contract assignment


Job Description:            

Resumes and interviews. This role reports to the Accounting Manager, Payables, and Expenses. Looking to hire an account assistant and need temporary help while they conduct the search. Our person could apply to a permanent job if they are interested. (Asking for an accounting/finance undergrad degree, but that can be flexible). Prefer someone with 1 year+ previous accounting experience but could consider someone with strong organizational skills who is meticulous with numbers with an admin background.

Accounts Payable Processing

  • Support the Finance Officer with the processing of invoices from vendors and partners, including consultants, grantees, and service providers
  • Support the Accounts Payable team with entering and updating transactions in accounting applications
  • Perform vendor statement analysis and review balances due against contracts

Expense Management

  • Ensure completeness and comprehensiveness of monthly corporate card reporting

Transaction Entry

  • Support the Finance team with entering transactions into the accounting system accurately and on time
  • Review, reconcile, and assign budget codes for monthly transactions
  • Ensure comprehensiveness of documentation in the finance systems

Audit & Tax Support

  • Support the annual audit process by coordinating the preparation of documentation
  • Support Accounting Manager, Payables, and Expenses with annual tax filing



  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • One year of relevant work experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong computer skills; intermediate ability in MS Excel, including an understanding of formulas and pivot tables
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member; self-directed, ability to work with minimal supervision yet knowing when to ask questions
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, plus discretion with sensitive information and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Comfortable communicating with staff across different countries and cultures
  • Critical thinking skills to apply general rules, but also catch inconsistencies
