Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a Civil/Structural Designer Engineering firm looking for an Engineer to work with the Army Corp. of Engineers on a Terrestrial Reactor Project; It's a first-of-its-kind type project. They need someone who has the experience and an understanding of the Army Corp of Engineers jargon and working with Onsite Power Projects.

Job Description / Duties:
- Serve as the technical project lead for site layout activities.
- Apply structural design and analysis of concrete and steel structures using appropriate design codes.
- Use civil structural analysis programs (ex. STAAD, RISA, GTSTRUDL, SAP).
- Apply natural phenomena loading on structures (ex. seismic, wind, tornado, hurricane).
- Apply soil mechanics to determine soil loading on structures and structural settlement analysis.
- Create design models and detailed drawings using CAD software and other design methods.
- Develop engineering calculations and specifications.
- Prepare test reports and assist with qualification reports.
- Support engineering procurement efforts.
- Other engineering support tasks as required.
Job Qualifications / Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required. A Civil Engineering degree is preferred.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of professional work experience in a relevant field is required.
- Must be a Civil Engineer with strong technical leadership and project engineering experience.
- Must have a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Must have demonstrable high-quality workmanship.
- Must be able to demonstrate good layout practices in ensuring project dimensions tie in while executing layout.
- The ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely written and verbal communication is required.
- Experience in the application of natural phenomena loads on structures is required.
- Must be a strong team player with the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Generally, work in a team environment, but the ability to work independently is required.
- Knowledge of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standards (as applicable to structural design and analysis) is required.
- Knowledge of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) code is required.
- Knowledge of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) code (as applicable to structural design and analysis) is required.
- Must be able to travel (<10%) domestically and internationally.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Additional Desired Skillsets:
- Experience performing seismic analysis of structures, tanks, and piping using response spectra or time history response analysis methods.
- Experience with structural analysis programs (ex. STAAD, RISA, GTSTRUDL, SAP).
- Experience performing impact and impulsive loading analyses.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
