Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Litigation Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of the litigation process from initial investigation through trial and appeal, providing strategic legal counsel and ensuring robust representation of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trials, and appeals.
Conduct legal research, draft legal documents such as complaints, answers, motions, briefs, and discovery requests/responses.
Attend and conduct depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court appearances.
Develop case strategies, evaluate claims, and advise clients on risks and options.
Negotiate settlements when appropriate.
Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, experts, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
Stay current on laws, legal trends, and court decisions relevant to assigned cases.
Maintain accurate records of case files and time tracking for billing purposes.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the state bar of Michigan.
5–10 years of litigation experience.
General commercial litigation, not insurance litigation.
Extra bonus if they have creditors’ rights and bankruptcy experience, but not mandatory and not a deal breaker.
Excellent writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
Proficiency in legal case management software and tools.
