Compensation: $50 to $60 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support our client on the NSA’s Rework Solar Project at Pearl Harbor. The SSHO will be responsible for overseeing all site safety operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and project-specific safety requirements. This role requires daily presence and mobility across all major work areas to monitor, inspect, and manage safety activities. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in construction or general industry safety management, with extensive knowledge of hazard identification, safety training, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary, full-time SSHO on-site, with mobility and reasonable access to all major work operations during the shift.
Report directly to a senior project or corporate official.
Ensure site compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and contract-specific safety requirements.
Conduct daily hazard analyses, develop control measures, and oversee implementation.
Monitor work activities for adherence to fall protection, confined space, electrical safety, and hazard communication (HazCom) procedures.
Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and site personnel to resolve safety concerns.
Maintain thorough safety documentation and reporting.
Ensure all workers are informed of and follow safety policies and procedures.
Maintain ongoing competency through documented continuing safety and health education.
Minimum Qualifications:
OSHA 30-hour General Industry or Construction Industry safety training (instructor-signed card or course completion certificate).
A minimum of five (5) years of continuous safety experience in construction or general industry safety management, OR four (4) years with a Third-Party, Nationally Accredited SOH-related certification (ANSI or NCCA).
Completion of the EM 385 40-hour Construction Safety course.
Annual completion of at least 8 hours of documented safety and health-related continuing education.
Additional Qualifications:
Proficient in hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety program management.
Competent in fall protection, confined space entry, electrical safety, and HazCom standards.
Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively influence safety culture on-site.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) designation.
Prior experience working on federal or military construction projects.
Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) safety regulations and reporting processes.
Experience on solar energy or renewable energy construction projects.
Active security clearance.
Security Clearance:
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance for access to the Pearl Harbor site.
Active clearance preferred.
