Hours: Monday-Friday, 25 to 30 hours per week in 2025 with potential to ramp up to 40 hours per week in 2026
Compensation: $42-$48 per hour
Overview: A leading online digital health information publisher is currently seeking a Senior Health Content Specialist to support the launch and growth of a new online learning program and support community focused on healthy lifestyle development and weight management. This initiative aims to empower individuals with complex medical profiles by providing evidence-based content, expert guidance, and practical tools for lasting lifestyle changes. This program will offer:
Self-guided learning modules
Expert-led live and on-demand webinars
Downloadable tools and resources
Real-time community support
The goal is to engage a health-conscious audience through a supportive, empathetic platform that validates personal experiences and provides the tools needed to build healthy habits over time—without promoting unrealistic promises or quick fixes.
Responsibilities:
Transform expert webinar transcripts into high-quality feature articles, Q&As, downloadable resources, slideshows, and self-assessments
Write original content including health news, newsletters, user-generated content recaps, and audience engagement materials (e.g., surveys, polls)
Attend and take notes during monthly webinars with top medical experts
Collaborate with the Senior Editor to identify content gaps and timely topics
Align written content with brand voice and editorial standards
Support content promotion by coordinating with social and newsletter teams
Ensure all content is medically accurate, SEO-optimized, and audience-friendly
Qualifications:
BA or MA degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field - preferred (or equivalent professional experience). High school diploma (or GED) required.
5+ years of experience in digital health journalism or publishing
Strong background in translating complex medical/scientific topics into clear, empathetic prose
Excellent writing, editing, and research skills
Working knowledge of SEO best practices
Experience writing for a consumer-facing audience
Proven ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality content at scale
Familiarity with mental health and wellness topics is a plus
