Staff Accountant

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Location: Brooklyn, NY (HYBRID)

Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 (base salary range) + annual discretionary bonus (dependent upon individual AND company performance)

Overview: Our client, a global business consultancy firm, is looking for an experienced, motivated, self-starting, problem-solver and collaborative Staff Accountant. This person will be working in our client's North American Finance Team in support of financial, management, project, and tax accounting, which has contributed to their ongoing success in the United States, Canada, and beyond. This person will be a contributing member of our client's North American Business Delivery Group, which is comprised of finance, human resources, marketing, legal, L&D, recruitment, facilities, and IT experts. The Staff Accountant will work in a dynamic environment across functions and borders and provide wider support to our client's internal initiatives.

Job Description:

With a focus on US business operations, the Staff Accountant will:

  • Support and/or oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including, but not limited to:
  • General Ledger transactions, journals, and reconciliations including balance sheet
  • Accounts Payable transactions, payments, and administration
  • Accounts Receivable transactions, receipts posting, and debt collections
  • Cash management and forecasting
  • Fixed Assets register and depreciation expense management
  • month and end-year process, support with annual audits
  • Prepare reports and coordinate activities with internal and external advisors on Federal, State, and local tax compliance
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
  • Coordinate proper accounting methods and principles to protect company assets
  • Assist Head of Finance with revenue recognition, Executive reporting, and other tasks
  • Collaborate with colleagues on payroll, insurance, and other matters
  • Help improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
  • Assist in the development of the team and mentor early career professionals

Requirements:

Eligible candidates for this role will possess the following attributes:

  • Academic achievement in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and at least 1 accounting software or ERP program

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 6 - 8 years relevant experience
  • CPA license, progress towards, or desire to pursue
  • Mastery of Excel and ERP platforms
  • Experience supervising and coaching junior accounting staff
  • An ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and find enjoyment through the development of new skills
  • Multi-task and effectively prioritize workloads, manage time, and meet strict deadlines
  • The ability to work autonomously yet in collaboration with other colleagues and clients
