Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment, and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. We apply our expertise in serving institutional clients to create new opportunities for people to achieve their personal financial goals. Morgan Stanley has one of the largest retail brokerage networks, with numerous worldwide representatives and retail locations. Our services are tailored to each client's investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial needs. Products include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and alternative investments where appropriate, as well as banking, mortgages, insurance, and annuities.

The Client Tax Operations Department is responsible for ensuring that all withholding and reporting obligations of the Firm are met. The Temp Client Tax Reporting position requires performing numerous data reviews, and tax forms, and interacting with internal and external clients and vendors.

Job Purpose:

The principal accountability of this position is to support all aspects of tax filings. The incumbent has the necessary skills to complete tasks on Shareworks, Excel, and third-party tax programs, and has the necessary knowledge to conduct research for the different jurisdictions and any new countries that Shareworks moves into.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and ensure 1099/1042-S Reporting is accurate
  • Perform IRS and State withholding reconciliation tasks
  • Updates Excel files for accurate reporting values
  • Ensure participant data is accurate
  • Attain appropriate approvals, document and confirm successful submissions per jurisdiction
  • Ensure that all tax filings and reporting for Corporate Clients are issued accurately and timely
  • Review IRS filings and State filings are accurate
  • Contribute to the annual tax production project plan to ensure that all relevant tasks are captured throughout the year
  • Perform all required testing on tax forms that are issued to ensure accuracy through preliminary reviews
  • Manage any special handling requirements for clients inclusive of tax form amendments for clients
  • Audit tax form generation to ensure all forms for all clients have been completed
  • Proactively provide project updates to Tax Manager as required to ensure the success of tax activities
  • Update processes and procedures policy portal as required
