Job Description:
The Maintenance Technician is a multi-craft position that requires a working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic (PLC). This position provides emergency and routine maintenance support to the operations departments in an industrial/automated environment. Strong knowledge of Electrical Controls is preferred.

  • This job would be part of the Union; the probationary period first 90 days; The Union is UFCW Local 342
  • The daily schedule for both is 7am - ~330pm, with occasional Saturday work.
  • Union benefits include no premium for health insurance for employees and dependents.  Partners/spouses are not eligible for coverage at this time.
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring, motor controls, sensors, ability to read electrical schematics, familiar with PLCs and other automation controls (doesn’t need to know how to program).
  • The role is considered “resident expert” in electrical for the maintenance team and there are additional, multi-craft responsibilities incorporated into the role.

What You Will Do at Acme:

  • You will successfully troubleshoot, install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment as directed.
  • Work to perform troubleshooting using a PLC.
  • Identify parts and supplies as needed to perform assigned tasks using manuals, catalogs, etc.
  • You will confer with operators and observers, and test, and evaluate operations of machinery and equipment to diagnose the cause of malfunction.
  • Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • You will repair, replace, adjust, and align components of machinery and equipment orders or fabricate replacement parts.
  • Complete test runs on repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Records repairs, maintenance performed, and machine maintenance information utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with those contacted in the course of work activities.
  • Adhere to all Safety Policies and always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Your Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in Electronics, General Technology, or related field and 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Must be proficient in the following areas:  Electrical, PLC, Mechanical, Hydraulics, and Pneumatics.

  • Completion of training programs as assigned and/or required including standard of work.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform job tasks.
  • Must be able to reach above and below shoulder height to move product.  This includes the ability to move throughout all areas of the facility.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • The ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects using hands, arms, back, abdominal muscles, shoulders, legs, or a combination of these muscle groups.
  • The ability to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job duties.
  • The ability to work in cold (-10 to 45*F) and wet environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times.
