Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Houston, TX (onsite) + Travel (~75%)
Compensation: $70,000-$80,000 (base salary) + Bonus
POSITION OVERVIEW:
As part of our client's global Business Development team, the Business Development Manager will focus on and contribute to client research & strategy. As part of this role, this person will also cover and follow specific commodities or trade routes relevant to South America.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Identify, prioritize, and pursue commercial opportunities across the dry bulk sector in both domestic and international markets through networking, market research, and attending industry events
- Maintain current client relationships and identify areas for potential clients
- Contacting potential clients to establish a business relationship and meet with them
- Research the latest in the dry bulk/shipping industry and create new opportunities to expand business
- Collaborate with Chartering (sales) team to ensure requirements are met, such as sales numbers and profit goals
- Strong understanding of company services as well as business position and competition to keep business competitive
YOUR PROFILE:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in business development, sales, consulting, or other client-facing roles, preferably in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish). Portuguese is also an added plus.
- Experience with commodity markets in the dry bulk sector and shipping is an added advantage
- Ability to travel ~75% of the time, including conference attendance and visits to client sites
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, to express technical and nontechnical concepts clearly and concisely
- Technical skills required to create proposals and find solutions to meet client requirements, such as using software programs like Salesforce
- Excellent organizational skills to meet goals and set priorities
- Proactive and able to work in stressful and uncertain environments
