Job Description:
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. The candidate must have legal billing experience in a law firm or analyzing bills in an insurance company, Paralegal preferred... this is the only requirement.
The contract rate would be $30 to $32/hour and the permanent salary would be in the 60-65K range. We really want someone interested in going perm after a few months as a contractor.
Vax-mandated and 5 days in office still stands.
General Summary: Perform detailed audits of law firms and litigation support vendor invoices and assist in analysis and dispute resolution relating to the payment of fees. Function as a lead analyst for the Litigation Cost Containment Unit.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Review all monthly legal invoices submitted by law firms for compliance with Claims Department counsel guidelines.
- Responsible for overseeing the incoming work, outgoing work volume, and equitable distribution of the work to other staff members.
- Identify billing practices that may require detailed auditing over greater periods of time.
- Communicate with outside counsel as necessary to resolve legal billing issues.
- Review claim files in conjunction with invoice auditing
- Maintain department standard turn-around time in processing invoices.
- Assist in the training and development of new employees within the Litigation Cost Containment Unit
- Collaborate with the department’s Claims Representatives on the approval of higher-value invoices.
- Act as a resource for other members of the Litigation Cost Containment Unit
- Ensure that all invoices from law firms are received timely and obtain any missing information from law firms, if necessary
- Prepare electronic check requisitions for Finance by approving payment batches.
- Communicate as needed with litigation support vendors to resolve any billing issues.
- Assist with data entry and statistical analysis projects as necessary.
- Apprise the Supervisor of potential problems or difficulties in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications:
- Graduate of an ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate Program and/or 6 years of experience in Litigation Cost Analysis
- Strong working knowledge of Windows-based programs, specifically Microsoft Excel
- Ability to learn and use web-based Litigation Cost Management Systems as well as other interrelated databases and programs.
- Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner.
- Must be detail-oriented and have good organizational skills.
- Ability to function in a professional office environment and utilize standard office equipment.
