The team develops innovative predictive models and analytical tools to improve profitability and growth. Data plays a critical role in this mission. To be successful, we need to create best in class datasets from internal and external sources leveraging a diverse set of tools and languages. This includes the following cutting-edge technologies available in the cloud, Snowflake, Spark, Python, R and Azure Data Factory.

As Data Engineer, Strategic Analytics Services, you will play a crucial role in developing complex data structures and pipelines. You will work closely with business leaders on high-profile analytics projects that drive the company’s decision-making and strategy. As a key member of the Strategic Analytics team, you will advance our data engineering capabilities by helping the team analyze data better and faster.

For the right candidate we are open to remote work. Preference will be given to those who can work EST hours.

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data scientists to understand and solve business problems by developing the best-suited data structures for analysis.
  • Build strong partnerships with peers across the organization to support data-related goals.
  • Continuously build on data engineering learnings and help develop best practices to make Strategic Analytics more effective in future projects.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through appropriate documentation and reconciliation.
  • Recommend, communicate, and implement appropriate remedies to address data quality issues.
  • Discover and explore new technologies, tools, and data sources with curiosity and creativity.
  • Identify appropriate technologies to automate data ingestion and identify solutions to link external sources to internal data.
  • Manage requirements throughout the data asset development lifecycle.

 

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of data manipulation for analytics using SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience building data structures to support analytics/research/actuarial functions.
  • Experience with Cloud, Snowflake, Spark, Python, R, Azure Data Factory, Qlik, PowerBi or working with unstructured data is a plus.
  • Project Management or similar experience is a plus.
  • Operate independently by managing tasks and engaging people across the team.
  • Ability to play a key role in cross-functional teams by collaborating and building trusting relationships.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication including the ability to effectively present and explain complex concepts.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or equivalent
  • Additional certificates in relevant technologies from a university or online program is a plus.
